eQUILIBRIO
Per raggiungere l'obiettivo principale di Structural Design I e II, ovvero imparare a utilizzare la relazione tra forma e forze per progettare strutture efficienti ed espressive, il Block Research Group ha sviluppato eQUILIBRIUM (eQ) grazie a una sovvenzione Innovedum. eQ è un ambiente di apprendimento dinamico e basato sul web. Utilizza disegni grafici interattivi basati sulla statica e altri metodi integrati per aiutare gli studenti di tutti i livelli a sviluppare attivamente una comprensione intuitiva e geometrica delle strutture.

eQUILIBRIUM (eQ) è un ambiente di e-learning e di e-teaching completo e dinamico. Progettato specificamente dal gruppo di ricerca Block per l'insegnamento della progettazione strutturale sia all'interno che all'esterno dell'ETH, eQ è un ambiente basato sul web e gestito da un sistema di gestione dei contenuti e da un framework di sviluppo web. Funziona come:
1. una piattaforma didattica: una sezione principale di eQ consiste in una libreria di disegni interattivi basati sulla statica grafica e realizzati con GeoGebra. Qui gli studenti possono apprendere in modo visivo e intuitivo il funzionamento di diverse tipologie strutturali, ma anche gli strumenti per progettarle e analizzarle. eQ consente quindi ad architetti e ingegneri di ogni livello di competenza di approfondire la conoscenza e la comprensione delle strutture in modo dinamico.
2. una piattaforma di comunicazione: eQ non solo trasmette le informazioni essenziali, tra cui la descrizione del corso e gli obiettivi di apprendimento, gli orari, i voti e le iscrizioni per le consultazioni individuali, ma include anche materiali di contenuto del corso come lezioni, esercizi, soluzioni d'esame, video tutorial e così via.
Le caratteristiche principali di eQ sono le seguenti:
- Basato sulla statica grafica: La statica grafica è un potente metodo per la progettazione e l'analisi delle strutture sviluppato, tra gli altri, dal professore dell'ETH Carl Culmann nel XIX secolo. Utilizzando poligoni di forza e semplici tecniche di costruzione geometrica, questo metodo grafico fornisce informazioni intuitive e visive.
sulla relazione tra forma e forze in una struttura. Si tratta di un approccio olistico che combina progettazione e analisi in un'unica metodologia rigorosa che può essere completata con carta e penna.
- Facile da imparare, facile da usare: con la statica grafica, gli studenti possono creare progetti sofisticati ed eseguire analisi rigorose ed estremamente accurate senza dover ricorrere alla programmazione o alla conoscenza approfondita di complicate tecniche matematiche.
- Interattivo: i disegni di statica grafica in eQ sono creati con GeoGebra, uno strumento open source di geometria e algebra con un'interfaccia grafica dinamica. In GeoGebra, le costruzioni grafiche di statica possono essere create utilizzando semplici primitive geometriche come punti, segmenti, linee e cerchi e le stesse tecniche utilizzate su carta con matita, righello e compasso. In seguito, i disegni possono essere esportati in un'applet e incorporati in una pagina web. Sia in GeoGebra che nelle applet, gli oggetti che compongono la costruzione possono essere modificati dinamicamente, consentendo di esplorare in modo interattivo la relazione tra forma e forze con un feedback visivo intuitivo e in tempo reale.
- Orientato al design: la combinazione di statica grafica e GeoGebra fornisce un modo coinvolgente e accessibile per illustrare e spiegare il comportamento delle strutture. Consente agli utenti di iniziare rapidamente a realizzare i propri disegni per le analisi strutturali e le esplorazioni progettuali fin dall'inizio della loro formazione strutturale.
