The University of St.Gallen (HSG) and ETH Zurich are jointly launching the ¡°ETH-HSG Manufacturing Alliance¡±. In doing so, they want to strengthen the competitiveness of Swiss industry and promote young talent. The alliance combines the strengths of the two universities and provides new impetus in research and practice.

At its meeting of 11 and 12 July 2024 and upon application of Jo?l Mesot, President of ETH Zurich, the ETH Board appointed six professors. The Board also awarded the title of "Professor" two times and the title of "Professor of Practice" once.

With its highly qualified graduates, cutting-edge research and knowledge transfer, ETH Zurich exists to serve Swiss society. The university demonstrated this once again in 2023. ETH News looks back at an eventful year.

The ETH Board reiterated that it regards the participation of donors in the filling of endowed professorships as useful. It emphasised, however, that appointments must be made strictly according to academic principles and that donors would not be granted a veto.

ETH Zurich serves as leading house or co-leading house for four new National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCR). The Federal Council of Switzerland launched eight NCCRs at Swiss universities.
