Treffpunkt Science City: Experience Sunday 17 November

Great hopes are pinned on materials science: for example, how can we get rid of harmful substances that pollute our environment and make our bodies sick? Will cultured meat, eco-concrete and magnesium implants soon be available? On Discovery Sunday, researchers will take you on a journey of fascinating materials. Take part in lectures, tours and experiments for all ages!

ETH Zurich advocates responsible animal research and opposes bans

Last year, ETH Zurich strengthened its commitment to more animal-friendly research methods, reducing the number of animal experiments by 7.6 percent. It is committed to the principle of minimising the burden on animals in research. However, ETH is fundamentally opposed to a complete ban on animal experiments.

New assembly of delegates elected for PUBLICA

On 6 November 2024, the insured persons of PUBLICA elected a new assembly of delegates, as they do every four years. Seven members of ETH Zurich belong to the assembly during the new term of office.

“We need more time to reflect”

Rector Günther Dissertori explained on the 169th anniversary of ETH Zurich the fundamental objective he was pursuing with a reform package in teaching. President of ETH Zurich Jo?l Mesot and Federal Councillor Albert R?sti also spoke to the many guests from politics, business and science. The Head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications and former ETH graduate gave this year’s ceremonial address.

Towards a restless retirement

Marco Mazzotti will be conferred emeritus status at the end of January 2025. A good reason for a portrait of this dedicated process engineer, who came to his field of research quite unexpectedly.
