Have you ever configured your OS and messed something up, right before you needed to use your PC for an important task? Then come to our NixOS spotlight! NixOS is an unusual Linux distribution that has gained popularity recently due to its reproducibility, large package repositories and unified way of configuration. Packages are installed and managed with the functional language and package manager both named Nix. Updates and config changes are atomic and Nix keeps track of old configurations, so changing the configuration can not mess up your system, since you can always roll back. We both use NixOS as our operating system and will share personal experiences, tips for getting started and outline the key benefits of this unusual distribution. |
