Tips and Tricks: How to fight the autumn and winter blues
Days are getting noticeably shorter, sunlight is becoming a scarce commodity and temperatures are dropping down to zero: autumn is here and winter is rapidly approaching. Here we share some tips for lightening your mood during what can be a gloomy time of the year.
With the chilly season upon us, many people are looking for ways to take care of themselves. This especially applies to members of the ETH community, many of whom are still spending a lot of time working from home and might therefore be missing out on social interaction, day-to-day variety and the feeling of being part of “life out there”.
Being active outdoors – even in cool temperatures – getting enough sleep and making use of a sun lamp are good ways of combating the seasonal blues. ETH also offers a few options for making your autumn and winter experience more comfortable.
Rest and relaxation at ETH
In addition to great fitness facilities, ASVZ also offers rooms for rest and relaxation: for instance in the external page Uniturm. Here you can rest on a sound couch, chill out in a lounge chair and find inner peace in a meditation room.
Enjoy the fresh air
If you'd prefer to recharge in the fresh air, ETH offers a wide variety of pleasant spots for switching off or for a short walk, including Naturpark H?nggerberg as well as various garden areas and green roof terraces. We recommend taking a walk along the Limmat or the shores of Lake Zurich if you have the time to venture out further. You can also trek directly from the Main Building up to Zürichberg and enjoy the alpine panorama. To get the full mountain experience, take the cable car back down.
